GFRC terrazzo

The Material

Most "terrazzo" planters sold in Australia are fibreglass shells with a printed or sprayed finish. HTCO pieces are the real thing: concrete cast with real stone, engineered in our own factory.

Glass fibre reinforced concrete

Composition

Glass fibre reinforced concrete

Every HTCO piece is a two-layer composite. The outer layer is GFRC, a high-strength concrete mixed with natural quartz aggregates and pigment cast through the full depth of the surface. Behind it sits a structural fibreglass reinforcement layer that adds strength while keeping weight manageable. The result reaches a compressive strength of 80 to 120 MPa, several times stronger than standard concrete.

What's inside

A blend of glass and semi-precious gemstone

Every surface is cast from three natural aggregates, each chosen for colour, depth and the way it catches light.

Recycled Vitrified Glass, dark teal recycled glass
Recycled Vitrified Glass, dark blue recycled glass
Recycled Vitrified Glass, light blue recycled glass
Recycled Vitrified Glass, mint green recycled glass

Recycled Vitrified Glass

Jewel-toned recycled glass, fired and tumbled until it reads like water set in stone. It carries the translucent blues and greens that give each piece its depth, and keeps glass out of landfill in the process.

Natural Quartz

Natural Quartz

Natural quartz in soft, frosted tones. One of the hardest minerals on earth, cast through the surface for a quiet crystalline shimmer and lasting strength.

Semi-Precious Gemstone

Semi-Precious Gemstone

A blend of tumbled semi-precious gemstone, no two fragments alike in colour or grain. This is the detail you feel up close, and the reason no two pieces are ever the same.

Hand-blended, one batch at a time

Small batch

Hand-blended, one batch at a time

Before a single piece is cast, the stone is blended by hand. Real tiger's eye, green aventurine, rose quartz and lapis are scooped from the pile, measured into small batches and folded through the mix by feel, not by machine.

No two scoops fall the same way, so no two pieces are ever alike. It is slower than a printed finish, and it is the reason an HTCO surface has real depth and a pattern that runs right through the material.

Each piece is finished with a protective sealer for stain, water and UV resistance, rated for indoor and outdoor use. From coastal patios to bathrooms, HTCO terrazzo is built to live outside as well as in.
